Riftbound drops Runeterra's champions onto a real card table. Fun, but it raises a question pretty fast: who are these people leading your deck into a fight?
A lot of them have more than a decade of Riot lore behind them. Click any Legend below to see where they started and how that story shows up in the mechanics printed on the card. The focus is each set's Legends, so spells, gear, mechs and the common and uncommon cards mostly sit this one out.
Each one is matched to the card mechanics that tell its story. Fan-made, not affiliated with Riot.
Riftbound's card format leaves little room for deep storytelling. This is where the community fills in the unexplored corners of Runeterra — without ever overwriting what Riot Games has actually said about an established Champion.
If an official Riftbound set later introduces lore that contradicts a community piece, the official version takes priority every time. The affected submission isn't deleted — it's moved to the Alternate Universe archive below, tagged with what changed, so the work is preserved without ever being confused for real canon.
I love Runeterra's lore and I love playing Riftbound, and I wanted both in one place. Pick a Legend, read where they came from, then look at the card again. It's surprising how much of the story made it into the mechanics.
The narrative summaries, histories, and champion titles featured across this codex draw on and adapt community documentation from the League of Legends Wiki, the printed rules text and flavor text found on official Riftbound cards, and publicly available guides to the tabletop game's mechanics.
